Abubakr and Umar: CURSED by the Ahl al-Bayt (as)

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Abubakr and Umar are the most important figures in Sunni Islam. In fact, sometimes, it is clear that they prefer the duo to the Holy Prophet . This is not an exaggeration or insult. It is just as it is. For instance, while the correct position on divorce is clear stated in the Qur'an and Sunnah, Sunnis nonetheless follow Umar's three-in-one divorce!!

One can easily notice many Shi'as compromising to tell the Truth about this duo in order not to offend the Sunnis. Of course, the feelings of our Sunni brothers must be well respected. However, that does not stop us from presenting the Truth as it is! Everyone of us tells the Christians that Jesus is not God, and that their Bible is corrupted. Now, why don't we simply hide these Truths in order to avoid angering the Christians?

Once again, the Truth is often bitter and harsh. But, it has to be told plainly nonetheless.

This article is about both Abubakr and Umar. We will briefly examine them in the light of the Qur'an and Sunnah.

This is not a Takfeer, as some people might claim. It is rather a plain presentation of the Truth. Instead of getting angry, we invite our Sunni brothers to ponder over the facts we have presented and see if we have been dishonest.

THE QUR'AN HAS EXPLICITLY DECLARED BOTH OF THEM KAFIRS, OPPRESSORS AND EVIL-DOERS!

It is clear that whoever rejects this Qur'anic verdict has himself joined them. Please, make sure you read that article, whatever the case, very carefully.

THE QUR'AN FORBIDS LOVE OF ABUBAKR AND UMAR

The Qur'an states:

[Shakir 60:1] O you who believe! do not take My enemy and your enemy for friends: would you offer them love while they deny what has come to you of the truth, driving out the Messenger and yourselves because you believe in Allah, your Lord? If you go forth struggling hard in My path and seeking My pleasure, would you manifest love to them? And I know what you conceal and what you manifest; and whoever of you does this, he indeed has gone astray from the straight path.

[Yusufali 60:13] O ye who believe! Turn not (for friendship) to people on whom is the Wrath of Allah, of the Hereafter they are already in despair, just as the Unbelievers are in despair about those (buried) in graves.

[Yusufali 33:57] Those who annoy Allah and His Messenger - Allah has cursed them in this World and in the Hereafter, and has prepared for them a humiliating Punishment.

The following are very clear from the verses:

1. Whoever annoys Allah (swt) or His Messenger is accursed, and must NOT be loved or befriended by any true believer.

2. Whoever befriends the enemies of Allah (swt) and His Messenger are astray.

Now, did Abubakr and Umar annoy Allah (swt) and His Messenger ??

Reading the above link is the answer. These people corrupted the religion of Allah (swt) and His Messenger . It is clear that Allah (swt) was annoyed with them on account of that alone. But, there is more. Abubakr, for instance, annoyed Bibi Fatima al-Zahra .

Narrated Aisha,'After the death of Allah's Apostle Fatima,the daughter of Allah's Apostle asked Abu Bakr As-Siddiq to give her the share of inheritance from what Allah's Apostle had left of the Fai (i.e. booty gained without fighting)which Allah had given him. Abu Bakr said to her, "the Holy Prophet (pubh) had said, 'Our property will not be inherited, whatever we (i.e. prophets) leave is Sadaqah (to be used for charity)." Fatima, the daughter of Allah's Apostle got angry and stopped speaking to Abu Bakr, and continued assuming that attitude till she died. Fatima remained alive for six months after the death of the Holy Prophet .
Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 53, Number 325

Yet, the Holy Prophet said:

"Allah's Apostle said, "Fatima is a part of me, and he who makes her angry, makes me angry."
Sahih al Bukhari Volume 5 hadith 61

These facts are clear here:

1. Whoever annoys the Messenger of Allah (swt) has annoyed Allah (swt)
2. Whoever annoys Allah (swt) and His Messenger is accursed
3. Whoever annoys Bibi Fatima has annoyed Allah (swt) and His Messenger .
4. Abubakr annoyed her, and therefore became accursed.

THE IMAMS OF THE AHL AL-BAYT CURSE THEM BOTH

This is a reliable Shi'a narration from the eighth volume of Al-Kafi:


عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ حَنَانِ بْنِ سَدِيرٍ وَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ

عَنْ حَنَانِ بْنِ سَدِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) عَنْهُمَا فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا الْفَضْلِ مَا تَسْأَلُنِي

عَنْهُمَا فَوَ اللَّهِ مَا مَاتَ مِنَّا مَيِّتٌ قَطُّ إِلَّا سَاخِطاً عَلَيْهِمَا وَ مَا مِنَّا الْيَوْمَ إِلَّا سَاخِطاً عَلَيْهِمَا يُوصِي بِذَلِكَ الْكَبِيرُ مِنَّا

الصَّغِيرَ إِنَّهُمَا ظَلَمَانَا حَقَّنَا وَ مَنَعَانَا فَيْئَنَا وَ كَانَا أَوَّلَ مَنْ رَكِبَ أَعْنَاقَنَا وَ بَثَقَا عَلَيْنَا بَثْقاً فِي الْإِسْلَامِ لَا يُسْكَرُ أَبَداً

حَتَّى يَقُومَ قَائِمُنَا أَوْ يَتَكَلَّمَ مُتَكَلِّمُنَا ثُمَّ قَالَ أَمَا وَ اللَّهِ لَوْ قَدْ قَامَ قَائِمُنَا أَوْ تَكَلَّمَ مُتَكَلِّمُنَا لَأَبْدَى مِنْ أُمُورِهِمَا مَا كَانَ

يُكْتَمُ وَ لَكَتَمَ مِنْ أُمُورِهِمَا مَا كَانَ يُظْهَرُ وَ اللَّهِ مَا أُسِّسَتْ مِنْ بَلِيَّةٍ وَ لَا قَضِيَّةٍ تَجْرِي عَلَيْنَا أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ إِلَّا هُمَا

أَسَّسَا أَوَّلَهَا فَعَلَيْهِمَا لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ وَ النَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ


Sadeer says I asked Imam Abu Jafar about Abu Bakr and Umar. Imam as.gif said Do not ask about them. I swear By Allah No one from among us died unless they were angry at the both of them. And there is no one from among us today but they are at angry at the both of them.The old from among us informs the young about that.They oppressed us and preveted us from having from our right,they were the first to ride on our necks. They opened a door of oppersion against us in islam, that will never be closed until our Qa'em rises, or our speaker speaks. He will uncover matters about them (Mr Reformer will be shocked when he finds about all the evil things his sweat hearts have done), that have been hidden, and he shall hide matters concerning them that have been shown (i'e all the virtues that were falsely attributed to them, Imam as.gif won't mention they it was in their favour). I swear by Allah, no misfortune or trouble has been caused against us Ahlu Al-Bayt as.gif except that they are the first causers of it. Thus may the curse of Allah, his angles, and all of mankind be upon them BOTH.

نَانٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ مَا كَانَ وُلْدُ يَعْقُوبَ أَنْبِيَاءَ قَالَ لَا وَ لَكِنَّهُمْ

كَانُوا أَسْبَاطَ أَوْلَادِ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ يُفَارِقُوا الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا سُعَدَاءَ تَابُوا وَ تَذَكَّرُوا مَا صَنَعُوا وَ إِنَّ الشَّيْخَيْنِ فَارَقَا

الدُّنْيَا وَ لَمْ يَتُوبَا وَ لَمْ يَتَذَكَّرَا مَا صَنَعَا بِأَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) فَعَلَيْهِمَا لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ وَ

النَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ

Through the same chain as the previous, from Hannan from Sadeer: I said to Imam Abu Ja'far ( were the sons of Yaqoob prophets? No, but they were sons of the prophets, and they did not leave this world unless they were satisfied, repentful, and they remembered what they had done. And indeed, the Shaikhain (Abu Bakr and Umar) left this world and they did not care of what they had done to Ameer Al-Mu'mineen , thus may the curse of Allah, his angles and the whole of mankind be upon them BOTH.

Question 50: Is it permissible to curse some of the Mothers of the Believers, such as lady Aisha for her disobedience of the Prophet, declaring war upon the Imam of her time, and showing enmity towards Amir al-Mu’minin Ali ibn Abi Talib, either (cursing her) explicitly with her name or implicitly?

الجواب : يجوز لعن كلّ من أعلن العداء لأميرالمؤمنين أو الزهراء أو الأئمة(عليهم السلام)فكيف بمن ظلمهم وحاربهم إلاّ مع خوف تلف النفس وقد ورد أنّ الإمام الصادق (عليه السلام) كان يلعن ثمانية بعد كلّ صلاته (أربعة من الرجال وأربعة من النساء ) .

Answer: It is permissible to curse all those who showed enmity towards Amir al-Mu’minin (Ali), al-Zahra, or the Imams. And why not after the oppression (they faced) and the fighting against them? Except (do not curse them) if there is fear of being harmed. And it is also mentioned that Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) used to curse eight (of them) after all his prayers.
